The story is as much about Margot and her travails as it is a warning about the degraded state of humanity in the 21st century, the lack of a unifying ethic to ensure long-term survival of our species, and the cascade of iniquities and inequities inflicted upon each other and the Earth that led to the apocalyptic climax.
